HOW-TO
How to point your domain to a new website
When your new site is ready, your domain needs to be told where to find it. That happens at the company where you bought the domain, through DNS records. It sounds technical, but it's a few copy and paste entries. PRYNT sets the domain on the site itself. Your part is the records at your registrar.

How to do it
01
Tell us the exact domain
Let PRYNT know the exact address you want, for example www.yourbusiness.com, so it's set on the site before you touch DNS.
search.google.com/search-console
02
Open your DNS records
Log in at your registrar and find the DNS screen. On GoDaddy it's Domain Portfolio, select the domain, then DNS. On Namecheap it's Domain List, Manage, then Advanced DNS. On Cloudflare select the domain, then DNS, then Records.
Your register → Domain→ DNS records
Tip.
Before you edit anything, set the TTL on the records to the lowest value allowed. Changes show up faster that way.
03
Add two A records
Create two A records with the host or name set to @. The first points to 35.172.94.1 and the second to 100.24.208.97. Delete any other A records for @ that point at your old site or a parking page.
A → @→ 35.172.94.1
04
Add the www record
Create a CNAME record with the host or name set to www, pointing to s.multiscreensite.com. Delete any other www record. If PRYNT has given you a different value for this record, use ours.
CNAME → www→ s.multiscreensite.com
05
Clean up and save
Remove any AAAA or CAA records for the domain, since they can block the security certificate. If you're on Cloudflare, set both records to DNS only (the grey cloud), because the orange proxy stops the certificate from issuing. Save. Do not touch MX or TXT records.
Careful.
Deleting MX or TXT records takes your email down. Only change the A and www records described here. Also, these changes point the domain away from your old site, so make them when the new site is ready to go live.
06
Wait for it to spread
DNS changes usually take effect within a few hours but can take up to 48. Check progress at whatsmydns.net by looking up your domain.
HOW TO KNOW IT WORKED
On whatsmydns.net, the A lookup for your domain returns only 35.172.94.1 and 100.24.208.97 and the CNAME lookup for www returns s.multiscreensite.com. Then visit https://www.yourdomain.com and you should see the new site with the padlock in the address bar. The certificate can take up to an hour after DNS finishes.
