HOW-TO

How to add a user to Google Analytics

Google Analytics lets you add people at two levels. Account level gives them access to every website property under your account, including any you add later. Property level gives them just one website. For an agency, property level is the safe default.

How to do it

01

Open Admin

Sign in at analytics.google.com and click the gear icon at the bottom left.

analytics.google.com Admin (gear)

02

Choose the level

Under Account, click Account access management for access to everything. Under Property, click Property access management for just this website. When in doubt, choose property.

03

Add the user

Click the blue plus in the top right and choose Add users. Enter their email and leave Notify new users by email checked so they get a heads up.

04

Pick a role

Administrator has full control including managing users. Editor can change settings but not users, and is enough for an agency to configure tracking and conversions. Marketer, Analyst, and Viewer are progressively more limited. You can also tick No Cost Metrics or No Revenue Metrics to hide those numbers.

Tip. Editor is the right role for most agencies. Give Administrator only if they need to manage users or link Google Ads.

05

Click Add

That's it. Access is immediate.

Careful. Administrators can remove other users, delete the property, or move it to another account. Hand that role out carefully

HOW TO KNOW IT WORKED

The person appears in the access management list with the role you chose. If you left the notification box checked, they got an email too.

Steps reflect the platform as of August 17, 2026. Menus change; if something looks different, tell us and we will update this guide.
